چکیده

We have measured how color appearance of squarewave bars varies with stimulus strength and spatial frequency. Observer's adjusted the color of an uniform patch to match the color appearance of the bars in squarewave patterns. We used low to moderate squarewave patterns, from one to eight cycles per degree (cpd). The matches are not photoreceptor matches, but rather are established at more central neural sites. The signals at the putative central sites obey several simple regularities. The cone contrast of the uniform patch is proportional to squarewave stimulus strength (colorhomogeneity) and additive with respect to the superposition of equal frequency squarewaves containing di erent colors (color-superposition). We use the asymmetric matches to derive, from rst principles, three patterncolor separable appearance pathways. The matches are explained by two spectrally opponent, spatially lowpass mechanisms and one spectrally positive, spatially bandpass mechanism. The spectral mechanisms we derive are very similar to luminance and opponent mechanisms derived using entirely di erent experimental methods.

Color constancy: phenomenal or projective?

Naive observers viewed a sequence of colored Mondrian patterns, simulated on a color monitor. Each pattern was presented twice in succession, first under one daylight illuminant with a correlated color temperature of either 16,000 or 4000 K and then under the other, to test for color constancy. The observers compared the central square of the pattern across illuminants, either rating it for sam...

Incidence of Mutation for Silver Coat Color in Black Forest Horses

Black Forest horses are typically chestnut colored with flaxen mane and tail. However, as their coat color can get very dark, they are sometimes also indicated as silver, a color depending on a black base color. To analyse if the silver allele is present in the Black Forest horse population, we genotyped 250 horses of this breed for formerly reported coat color mutations within MC1R and SILV. A...

Scene cut detection using the colored pattern appearance model

In this paper, we propose to use the Colored Pattern Appearance Model (CPAM) as a content representation for video scene break detection. This model represents a scene by means of global statistics of the local visual appearance, and was originally motivated by studies in human color vision. The performance of this method is compared to several histogram-based approaches. An adaptive thresholdi...

An Adaptive Structured Light Pattern for the 3D Profiling of Colored Objects

Coded structured light is a fast and reliable technique to acquire the geometry of a measuring surface since the pattern codification might solve the correspondence problem in a single shot. Colored patterns reduce pattern segmentation complexity but their efficiency decreases in the presence of colored surfaces. We propose a color coded pattern which is automatically adapted depending on the c...
